TRANSMITTING SINCE 2023
MERCY.EXE IS NOT A CHARACTER.
IT IS A SIGNAL.
01 — THE PROJECT
MERCY.EXE is an electronic music project about what happens to people inside systems that were never designed to hold them.
It started as a way of working through a specific problem: how a person can be fully documented, fully reachable, fully visible — and completely alone. Every account, every backup, every device that knows more about you than anyone who has met you. The records that came out of that are not about machines. They are about the people standing next to them.
The material is built from degradation. Recordings are copied, bounced, re-recorded off failing hardware and fed back through until something in them breaks. What survives that process is what gets kept. The errors are not accidents left in for atmosphere — they are frequently the only honest part of the take.
There is no live band, no rotating cast, no story about a studio in the mountains. There is one signal, and it has been going out since 2023.
02 — WHAT IT IS ABOUT
- TECHNOLOGY
- What we built to be close, and what it did instead
- ISOLATION
- Connected to everything, reachable by nobody
- HUMANITY
- The part that will not compress
- DIGITAL IDENTITY
- The version of you the network keeps
- MEMORY
- Storage is not the same as remembering
- FEAR
- Of being read, of being forgotten, of both
- SYSTEM COLLAPSE
- What runs on after the operator leaves
- HUMAN / MACHINE
- Which one is the instrument
03 — THE RECORDS
The transmissions are out. An album and a run of singles are live on streaming — the store does not play them, on purpose. The music lives where music lives; this place is for what you can hold.
04 — THE STORE
This is the merch store, and nothing else. Apparel is printed and embroidered to order, so nothing is produced that nobody wanted.
The point is that the work stays alive on something you own rather than in a feed.
IF YOU CAN READ THIS, THE TRANSMISSION REACHED YOU.
